Wilderness, a little gem along Garden Route

If you're planning a trip to South Africa, we really recommend you spend a few days along the Garden Route.

Garden Route is a 400 km strech along the South Coast of South Africa and runs from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth. Here you'll find tons of small, cosy Guesthouses, B&B's and Hotels.

One of our favourite spots is the tiny little village Wilderness, approx 10 min from George and 40 min before Knysna.

The unspoilt beach, indigenous forrest, national park, lagoon and plenty of good restaurants offer something for every traveller.

Spoil yourself with a couple of nights at the chic "Cinnamon Boutique Guesthouse" which has one of the top restaurants in the area, or for those seeking the beach, check in at The Dune Guest Lodge overlooking the beach.

Wilderness is perfectly situated for lots of different daytrips. Drive over Outeniqua Mountains to the Ostrich Capital: Oudtshoorn or try some Shark Cage diving at Mossel Bay. For the adventurous, maybe world's highest commercial Bungy Jump is calling?

Let us plan your Garden Route Holiday!

Simply send us your dates, what kind of accommodation you're looking for and what kind of activities you have in mind and we'll get back to you with a suggestion- At no extra cost!

Shark Cage Diving in South Africa

False Bay and the south coast of South Africa is famous for the abundance of Great White Sharks.
National Geographic among many others often come to the area to capture these mysterious creatures on film.

For those who would like to do some Shark Cage diving while in South Africa should head down to Gaansbaai, approximately 2 hrs outside Cape Town.

Here you'll find several operators with a special shark license. This license gives them the right to "chum the water" in order to attract the sharks for easier viewing. The boat trip and diving usually takes somwehere between 3-4 hrs in total and will get you really close to the sharks. If you don't feel like going into the water or being trapped in a cage, it is still worth the trip just seing the sharks from the boat.

Another area where you find Shark Cage diving is Mossel Bay which is a convenient location along the Garden Route.

The cost for the Great white shark experience ranges between R1200-1300 per person and transport from Cape Town to Gaansbaai can be arranged at an extra cost.

If you'd like to book but not sure which operator to go with, contact us and we'll do the booking for you with the most respectable operators and you then simply pay upfront on the day.

Cape Town Restaurants

While in Cape Town, one will most likely eat at some of the hugely popular restaurants at Waterfront, Cape Town's busy shopping area.
There are tons of nice restaurants here but personally I think a lot of them charge ridiculous prices and offer quite average service so why not try something else?

A few minutes from Waterfront, you'll find the trendy areas Green Point & De Waterkant and tons of nice little restaurants.
Pigalle offers fine dining at very reasonable prices, or choose one of the many options at Cape Quarters.
Beluga is another favourite but just make sure you have a reservation for this one as it's very popular with the locals.

For steak lovers: Don't miss 1800 degrees and for wine enthiusiasts: Chenin Restaurant and wine bar with it's impressive winelist and more than 40 wines by the glass.

The list goes on..and I promise more recommendations in the near future.
