National Geographic among many others often come to the area to capture these mysterious creatures on film.
For those who would like to do some Shark Cage diving while in South Africa should head down to Gaansbaai, approximately 2 hrs outside Cape Town. Here you'll find several operators with a special shark license. This license gives them the right to "chum the water" in order to attract the sharks for easier viewing. The boat trip and diving usually takes somwehere between 3-4 hrs in total and will get you really close to the sharks. If you don't feel like going into the water or being trapped in a cage, it is still worth the trip just seing the sharks from the boat.
Another area where you find Shark Cage diving is Mossel Bay which is a convenient location along the Garden Route.
The cost for the Great white shark experience ranges between R1200-1300 per person and transport from Cape Town to Gaansbaai can be arranged at an extra cost.
If you'd like to book but not sure which operator to go with, contact us and we'll do the booking for you with the most respectable operators and you then simply pay upfront on the day.
